kissart building
The solar shading analysis performed for the Kissart Building has been an integral part of our design process. This is a six-level commercial building with a basement which is situated in the bustling area of Spintex in Accra, Ghana. By studying the amount of solar access to different parts of the site and building design at various times of the day throughout the year, we were able to determine the optimal shading system for the building.
Through this analysis, we identified areas that required shading to minimize heat gain and ensure comfortable indoor temperatures. Our team designed a shading system that provides effective sun protection while allowing ample natural light into the building, creating a well-lit and comfortable environment for occupants.
Moreover, our shading system has been designed to take advantage of the location and orientation of the building to maximize its energy efficiency. By minimizing the amount of direct sunlight that enters the building during the hottest parts of the day, we have reduced the need for energy-intensive cooling systems, thereby minimizing the building’s energy consumption and associated costs.
The Kissart Building’s shading system is just one example of our commitment to sustainable design. By incorporating passive design strategies, we can minimize the environmental impact of the building while also providing comfortable and functional spaces for its occupants.
The solar shading analysis also plays a critical role in the installation of photovoltaic (PV) panels, which are used to generate renewable energy for the building. By identifying areas of the building with the highest solar exposure, we can determine the optimal location for PV panel installation.
Through this analysis, we can ensure that the panels receive the necessary sunlight to generate maximum energy output, thereby reducing the building’s reliance on grid-based energy sources. Moreover, by installing PV panels in a shaded area, we can help mitigate the heat gain associated with direct sunlight, improving overall energy efficiency and reducing cooling costs. By incorporating PV panels into our design, we can promote sustainable energy use and reduce the building’s environmental impact while also providing long-term cost savings to the building’s occupants
We believe that the Kissart Building sets a new standard for sustainable commercial building design in Ghana, and we are excited to showcase its many features and amenities to the public.
